What do I do Now?

The easiest way is to hire a professional contractor that will know the current dwelling building codes and be able to handle all of the dwelling permitting and inspection processes for you.  If you want to do it yourself, you will need to review and understand all the dwelling information on the current dwelling building codes found at the Uniform Dwelling Code Inspection page and to learn more about what kinds of permits and inspections are needed.

The Wisconsin Uniform Dwelling Code is the dwelling code that standardizes and dictates the dwelling building requirements and the dwelling inspection process.  Additional information can be found under the Forms page and Frequently asked Questions page.

Each Municipality will have a slightly different procedure on how the dwelling permitting process is handled.  Click on your municipality under Areas we Serve to find out what is required.
